Chamber-hosted July events approved by Demopolis City Council

During its regular meeting on Thursday, the Demopolis City Council approved several upcoming events to be held in conjunction with the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce.
The first event is the annual Freedom on the River, which will be Thursday, July 4 at the Demopolis City Landing.
Children’s activities will kick off at 5 p.m., including Boo Boo the Clown, arts and crafts, a water slide and a foam machine. A children’s parade will take place at 7.
Live entertainment will be provided by White Bluff Association from 5 until 9. Food trucks will be onsite throughout the event. Fireworks will begin at 8:30.

Council members also approved the Rockin’ on the River Summer Concert Series, which will be held every Thursday in July at the Landing.
Presented by the Chamber of Commerce and the City, the public is invited to bring chairs and coolers to the free event, where there will be food trucks and live music. The dates for the series are July 11, 18 and 25. The artists providing the entertainment have not been announced.
During Thursday’s brief meeting, the council also approved moving its regularly scheduled meeting on July 4 to Tuesday, July 2 with a work session at 10:45 a.m., followed by the meeting at 11:15.
