Bertha Mae Colburn, 87, passed away at her home on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
Services will be announced later with the Rev. Dan Finney and the Rev. Steve Vernon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
Bertha Mae was born on January 18, 1937, to Marvin Dawson and Opal Key Johnson, in Uniontown. She met her loving husband, Robert Colburn Jr., in 1944 and married him on June 2, 1955, the week after she graduated from Greensboro High School. Bertha Mae and Robert started their life together in Marion Junction and later moved to Greensboro, where they remained together until Robert went to Heaven to wait for her there. She was married to Robert for 63 years.
Bertha Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Opal Johnson; sisters, Dannie, Opaleen and Marvine Johnson; son, Carnell Colburn; and great-grandson, Trenton Brown.
Survivors include her daughters, Angela Colburn Warner (Jim) of Florence and Traci Colburn Montz (Darryl) of Greensboro; daughter-in-law, Melissa Searcy Colburn of Cottondale; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Bertha Mae loved God, her family, reading the Bible, attending her church (Pineview Assembly of God), gospel music, arranging flowers, talking and texting with her friends/family on the telephone, Atlanta Braves Baseball, Auburn University football/basketball/baseball, and listening to The Rick & Bubba Show. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Pallbearers will be: Kristopher Colburn, John Daniel Colburn, Chris Todd, Brandon Montz, James Allen Stewart, Cody Dougherty, Baker Porter and Blake Colburn.
Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Nadiea Todd, Kristi Colburn, Hannah Colburn, Kimberly Lancaster, Jennifer McKinney (Ryan), Tabitha Stewart, Kelli Montz and Kailey Montz; great-granddaughters, Baileigh Colburn, Emily Colburn, Jordan Carmichael, Charlei Brown, Hartlei Brown, Macy Mae McKinney, Madelyn Montz and Ansley Montz; great-grandsons: Kaleb Colburn, Logan Todd, Braydon Green, Asher Colburn, Cooper Montz and Dawson Stewart; the families of Mt. Carmel Church, Pineview Assembly of God Church Family, Irene Hoskins, Jacob Perkins, Lola B. Harper, Kendall Hamm, Dale Bates, Eddie Johnson, Amedisys Hospice, Andrea Stringfellow CRNP, Michelle Simmons, Dr. Joshua Price and staff of Moundville Primary Care Associates; Dee Tingle, Mark Odom Jr. and many other friends and neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pineview Assembly of God.
