The Elite Lindenite Organization (ELO), Inc. proudly announces the 2024 African American Achievement Awards and Scholarship Banquet. The banquet will be on Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. at Murdock’s Entertainment and Banquet Hall. The banquet hall is located at 30316 US Highway 43 in Gallion.
This event serves as a beacon of inspiration, showcasing the remarkable achievements of our esteemed honorees. By highlighting their successes, the ELO aims to empower its scholarship recipients and other youth, demonstrating that their potential knows no bounds.
Rooted in a rich history of community service, the Lindenites originated in 1970 when four visionary members of the Marathon Wives Club rallied local women together to address the social and intellectual needs of the community.
“Under the leadership of Ms. Annie D. B. Robertson, our President and Program Chair, we proudly align with the 2024 National Black History Month Theme, “African Americans and the Arts,” while locally emphasizing “Lights, Camera, ELO in Action,” a press release stated. “In harmony with our thematic focus, we invite attendees to dress formally, embodying the elegance of Hollywood as they walk the red carpet to celebrate our honorees.”
The ELO has exemplified a legacy of action-oriented community service for 54 years. Some notable accomplishments of the organization include Advocating for Recreational Facilities. The ELO successfully lobbied for a swimming pool and recreational facilities for Black youth in Linden—sponsorship of Girl Scout Troop and Little League Team. The ELO sponsored a Girl Scout Troop and established an Elite Lindenite Little League Team. The ELO also promotes Etiquette and Social Skills. Graduating classes were honored through receptions, focusing on fostering etiquette and social skills.
Tickets for the banquet are available through ELO members for a donation of $30.00.
