The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles scheduled 76 parole hearings and 29 pardon hearings for the week of Jan. 30 – Feb. 1. Among those scheduled for parole was Marengo County inmate Jeremy Joshua Bell. 

A parole hearing for Bell was held Jan. 30 and the Board voted to deny parole with a reset date of Jan. 1, 2029.

Bell is serving time for a 2008 double murder conviction and is incarcerated in the Ventress Correctional Center in Barbour County. Bell has, so far, served fifteen years and two months for the conviction. The conviction totals 25 years. Bell was sentenced on Apr. 5, 2011.

On Nov. 13, 2008, Bell shot and killed Henry Green, 22, of Demopolis and Ron Elmore, 35, of Demopolis In front of 722 E. Decatur St. in Demopolis.

Speaking in support of Bell’s parole was Aimee Cobb (attorney) and Jessica Davis (sister). Antashana Hall of Victims of Crime and Leniency (VOCAL) and Sarah Deneve with the Victims Services Office (VSO, Attorney General’s Office), who each spoke against Dumas’s being paroled.

He has a minimum release date of Nov. 16, 2033.
