Demopolis man, woman injured, Selma man killed in weekend crash

A Demopolis man and woman were injured in a car crash on Saturday, Nov. 18, at approximately 6:45 p.m. The crash also claimed the life of a Selma man.
Roosevelt Sigler, 69, was fatally injured when the 1997 Jeep Cherokee he was driving was struck by the 2017 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Joe N. Smith III, 37, of Demopolis. Sigler was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Joe N. Smith III and Valerie Smith, 42, also of Demopolis and was a passenger in the Dodge Ram, also were not using seat belts at the time of the crash. Both individuals were injured and transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma for treatment.
The crash occurred on U.S. 80 near the 96 mile marker, approximately 10 miles east of Selma, in Dallas County.
No further information is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
