The Sept. 7 Demopolis City Council meeting had a light agenda consisting of board appointments, a budget resolution, and requests for public assemblies.

The first item on the list involved appointments to the Industrial Development Board (IDB). Mayor Woody Collins said that Charles Singleton, Doug Brewer, and Shawn Hall were recommended to Council for reappointment.

Each member has served one term and the IDB wants to keep them in their current positions. The Council unanimously approved the reappointments.

The next item discussed was a budget resolution for the 2023-2024 budget. The budget was unanimously approved.

In other business, the council approved two requests for public assemblies; one for the annual Christmas on the River celebration and another for the Bark in the Park event hosted by Main Street Demopolis.

The Demopolis City Council meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at 5:15 p.m. The work session begins at 4:45 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
