In Genesis 13 and 14, God has finally, after 10 plagues, convinced Pharoah to let the Israelites go free. However, God doesn’t lead his people on the shortest route, where they would have surely faced war with the Philistines. God instead led his people to the Red Sea.

The Israelites find themselves trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s army, which then chases them.

In Genesis 14:6, God tells Moses to stretch his hand out over the sea and divide the water to allow the Israelites to walk across on dry land. This is where I’d like you to insert yourself into the situation. 

Imagine yourself as an Israelite standing on the shore of the Red Sea with a huge wall of water on either side. You have witnessed God‘s miracle, but do you have the faith to be the first step into the now dry sea floor and walk between the walls of water? 

There are a lot of people in today’s world that claim to be Christians; however, they don’t have a faith strong enough to take the first step in God’s will. Seeing the Red Sea part would seem to be very convincing – that it was God’s will for you to follow this path. 

However, many would struggle to have a faith strong enough to take the first step. How do you measure your faith? 

Place yourself on the shore of the Red Sea and ask yourself honestly do you have the faith to be the first to take a step. David never hesitated to face Goliath. Daniel never changed when, where, or to whom he prayed, even if it would send him to the lion’s den. 

Enochs faith was so strong he avoided death. Peter’s faith allowed him to walk on water. 

Ask yourself now, “How strong is your faith?” Strengthen it every day so that whenever you have the opportunity you can take the first step in God’s will with absolute faith.
