A.L. Johnson’s LaNiyah Anderson recipient of Livingston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority scholarship

The Livingston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc recently awarded three scholarships to area students, one of whom is from Marengo County. The chapter’s service area includes Sumter County, Marengo County, and Choctaw County and a scholarship was awarded to a senior from each county. Each recipient received $1,000.
The Marengo County recipient was LaNiyah Anderson of Amelia Love Johnson High School in Thomaston. Anderson was the 2023 Valedictorian of A.L. Johnson and plans to attend Wallace Community College in Selma and will play basketball. She will pursue an associate degree in general studies and then transfer to a university to complete requirements needed to apply to dental school. Her goal is to be a Pediatric Dentist.
Anderson was accepted to the more than 30 schools she applied to and received over 15 scholarship offers. She was also the recipient of the 2023 William and Geraldine Curry Scholarship for Academic and Community Leadership and the Demopolis Women of Faith Scholarship.
The recipient for Sumter County was LaJaylen Davis of Sumter Central High School. The Choctaw County recipient was Ja’Niya Parker of Choctaw County High School.

The Scholarship Chair, Deborah Mitchell, the Scholarship Committee, and members of the Livingston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. extended their thanks and appreciation to everyone who participated in their fundraising efforts.
