The October 17 Demopolis Board of Education meeting had a short agenda for the regular meeting with one bid being approved, and Superintendent Tony Willis providing updates from around the school district.
The superintendent recommended approval of the paper bid be awarded to Newell Paper in the amount of $37,012.95. The board unanimously approved the bid.
All principals, Lewis-WES, Shipman-USJ, Smith-DMS, and Gantt-DHS, were in attendance, and shared with the Board their ACIPs for the year.
During the discussion on inventory dispositions, Willis reported that air purifiers at the high school that were scheduled for inventory, have been listed as stolen. Until they are located, the purifiers will not be listed on the system’s inventory list.
Under the Superintendent’s Report, Willis announced that the WES Multi Purpose building is in the final stages of completion and is awaiting directions on the driveway. Schneider Electric will be ready to present findings later this week and report at the November 14 board meeting.
Dugout work being negotiated to save money with H&M and the architects/engineers.
ACT WorkKeys data has come back strong. Last year 41-61; this year starting at 61 Silver or above (this is the required level to get a CCR indicator). ACT was administered for free to the Juniors on October 18 and will be used to help them for the spring test.
