The Demopolis Police Department is currently investigating a shooting near Maria Ave and West Jackson that occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12. The DPD is working alongside investigators from the District Attorney’s office and agents from the 17th Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force to locate the two suspects who were last seen in the area of Maria Ave south of Hwy. 80.

The DPD and assisting agencies have searched the area with dogs and helicopter assistance and have declared the area clear. Officers now believe the subjects had assistance in fleeing the area, and investigators are following up on those leads.
