Frances Morrisette Lawson

Frances Morrisette Lawson, age 92, of Greensboro passed away on July 24, 2010.

She was born on May 25, 1918, in Newbern to the late Nathaniel Welch and Louise Fowlkes Morrisette.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Reid Lawson; two sisters, Marie Morrisette McKinley and Louise Morrisette Moody; and a grandson, Joshua Lawson IV.

Survivors include a daughter, Amy Seay Lawson of Shalimar, Fla.; a son, Clarence Reid (Mary) Lawson of Greensboro; two brothers, Nathaniel Welch Morrisette Jr. of Columbia, S.C., and William Fowlkes Morrisette of Greensboro, N.C.; two grandchildren, Mary Quitman Lawson (William) Holmes of Greensboro and Amy Lawson (Rhett) Cooper of Tuscaloosa; and four great-grandchildren, Mary Coleman Chandler, Caroline Reid Cooper, Margaret Lewis Cooper and Elizabeth Moore Holmes.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Richard Cobbs officiating. Burial followed in Greensboro Cemetery. Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directed the services.

Pallbearers were Wynne Coleman III, Rhett Cooper, William Holmes, Frank Bruce, Nick Cobbs, James Stewart, Al Cherry and Ervin Burt. Honorary pallbearers were Harris Coleman Jr. and Joe Kyser.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be mde to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 905 Church St., Greensboro, AL 36744.
