Kay Smelley Barkley age 70 of Gallion, AL died January 31, 2022 at her home. She was born July 15, 1951 in Northport, AL to Clyde and Jewel Smelley.

She is survived by her husband, William V. Barkley, Jr.; three daughters, Cortney Palmer Patton (Drew), Rebecca Barkley Purdy, and Brenna Barkley Askew (Burke); sister, Kathryn Smelley Styres; grandson, Chase Purdy; granddaughter, Blakely Palmer; two nieces, Pam Styres Buell (Randy) and Cynthia Styres Blackhall (Jim); and great nephew, Will Bishop.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy Blake Palmer; and her parents, Clyde and Jewel Smelley.

There will be a private family memorial service.
