The Linden City Schools board offered the position of superintendent and Linden Elementary School principal to Dr. Tyrone Smith on June 23, and now await hearing the terms of negotiation from him.
“We have submitted a proposed contract,” said school board attorney Alex Braswell. “He is considering it, and I expect to hear from his attorney, who is out of the country, in the next few business days.”
Smith is the director of The Opportunity Academy at Riggins Alternative School in the Birmingham City Schools system.
“He seemed very enthusiastic about coming to Linden,” Braswell said. “He was excited about it. It’s just that we have to tie up the loose ends on the contract. Normally, it’s a two- or three-day process, for the most part. His attorney has been very communicative — just not able to sit down and go over it.”
