Back Water Boat Rentals held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Thursday, July 8 at the Kingfisher Bay Marina.
Owner Clint Sumlin has wanted to open a boat rental business in Demopolis for several years. He enlisted his friends Jeb and Niki Bailey to help make that dream a reality. Back Water Boat Rentals offers people who don’t own boats the opportunity to spend and enjoy time on the river.
Mayor Woody Collins expressed how important the river was to Demopolis as it is one of the best resources in the area.
“In a city that has so much water, a lot of people are unable to go to the river because they don’t have their own boat,” said Collins. “We are so thrilled to have them and from the City of Demopolis, we congratulate them and we’re here to give them a hand.”
The rental fee is $350 a day and renters are required to fill the gas tank or pay for fuel after use.
Back Water Boat Rentals is open seven days a week 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
