Demopolis Lady Tigers softball team gets wins over T.R. Miller and Excel

Demopolis High School’s softball team took the lead late and defeated T.R. Miller 3-2 on Friday.
The game was tied at two with Demopolis batting in the bottom of the fourth when Allie Hughes grounded out, scoring one run. The pitching was strong on both sides. DHS pitchers struck out four, while Barnett sat down six.
Demopolis opened up scoring in the first inning. Abby Grace Cameron drove in one when Cameron singled. Ashton Moorer got the win for DHS. Moorer went one and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out four and walking zero. Barnett took the loss for T.R. Miller. Barnett allowed five hits and three runs over four innings, striking out six and walking zero. Lizzie Cannon started the game for DHS. The pitch lasted three and a third innings, allowing six hits and two runs while walking one. Wessie Lee Jacobs led Demopolis with two hits in two at bats. Maddie Grace Teel led DHS with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with four stolen bases.

Moorer threw a shutout to lead Demopolis past Excel 2-0 on Saturday.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Moorer struck out 13, while Kameron Duke sat down five. DHS got on the board in the first inning. A sacrifice bunt by Cameron scored one run for Demopolis. One bright spot for Excel was a single by Duke in the fourth inning. Moorer was the winning pitcher for DHS. Moorer surrendered zero runs on two hits over six innings, striking out 13 and walking zero. Duke took the loss for Excel. The pitcher went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out five and walking zero. Weesie Hughes, Madison Ford, Wessie Lee Jacobs, and Allie Hughes each collected one hit to lead Demopolis.
