Due to the forecast threat of winter weather conditions, the University of West Alabama will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 16. All offices will be closed, and in-person classes will not meet.
Everyone is encouraged to monitor changing weather conditions and use extreme caution if other travel is necessary.
Campus street closures will be strictly enforced, and failure to observe street closures may result in fines and penalties.Drivers are encouraged to consult the Alabama Department of Transportation website for information on road closures in the area. See www.algotraffic.com
Existing operations following COVID-19 protocol remain, including student dining services, which will have abbreviated hours that will be communicated via UWA Housing and through updates.
According to the National Weather Service, “a winter weather advisory means that periods of snow and sleet will cause travel difficulties.” The NWS further suggests that all parties “be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities… and use caution while driving.”
Should weather conditions prompt further changes in operations, announcements will be sent to area media, sent to all faculty, staff and students via UWA Alerts, the University’s emergency alert system, and posted on the University Web page at www.uwa.edu/weather. Students should consult these official outlets for announcements. All parties should closely monitor weather conditions and reports and use caution before traveling in inclement weather.
