Marengo County probate judge Cindy Neilson and Linden High School principal Timothy Thurman congratulated newly-elected LHS Student Council president Chelsea Tucker on her new role as leader of the student body.
On Sept. 30, the Linden High School Student Council elections were held. Thanks to Neilson’s generosity, the LHS student body cast their ballots in the the same manner their parents do when they go to the polls for local, state and national elections.
According to Student Council adviser Mitzi Gates, after presidential and vice presidential campaign speeches and impromptu debate questions, the polls at LHS opened at 9:50 a.m. and closed at 10:18 a.m. after 169 votes had been cast in grades 9-12.
Running for office in the recent LHS Student Council elections were Jertrice Richardson, Shanique Lewis, Latice Glover, Ariana McCaskey, Maria Norah, Briania Agee, Jasmine Rembert, De’Anthony Bright, Chelsea Tucker, Gelease Kennedy, Dyneesha Head, Daniel Black, Dasheonna Tucker, Jasper Hood, Latriia Eubanks, Jeremy Carr, Saterica Aldridge, Laquanda Witherspoon, Kileema Rogers, Tiffany Rembert, D’Anthony Jackson and Michael Head.
