Linden BOE approves nine hires in June

The Linden Board of Education approved employing nine new educators and staff members at two meetings in June.
During a regular meeting on June 24, the board approved Desmond Prichett as a physical education teacher and Karla Kennedy as an ELA teacher at George P. Austin Middle School. For Linden High School, they approved Emma Blasingame as a social science teacher, Alexis Johnson as a general science teacher and Miakka Taylor as a librarian.
The board also approved employing Amy Carlisle as a fourth-grade teacher and Katrina Sprinkle as a Kindergarten teacher at Linden Elementary School, Rose Wolf as a special education teacher at LHS and Malinda Griffin as a Child Nutrition Worker for the school district during a called meeting on June 6. Cordarrin Wilson was also approved a physical education teacher at LES and as head basketball coach at LHS.
Also during the called meeting, the board approved the transfer of Courtney Williams to second-grade teacher at LES and accepted the resignation of Maria Daniels as second-grade teacher at LES.
Two other resignations, Will Gandy as physical education teacher and James Sewell Jr. as custodian, were accepted.
Other actions taken during the two June meetings include accepting the Child Nutrition Program 2019-2020 school year price list and approving June 4 as a holiday for 12-month employees, the Jamari Terrell Williams Student Bullying Policy and the milk bid from Borden Dairy at $40,782.60 for paper containers and $42,152.41 for plastic containers for a total of $82,935.
The Linden Board of Education meets the fourth Monday of each month at 4 p.m. at the main office.
