Jeanne Stokes Barton Coleman

Jeanne Stokes Barton Coleman, age 80, of Marion passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at her home.
She was born on March 19, 1929, and attended Judson College. She worked in the Perry County Courthouse for several years. She and her husband, Rennie, were active members of the Marion Presbyterian Church for the last nine years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Willie Belle Stokes; a husband, Leonard Morris Barton Sr.; her son, Leonard Morris Barton Jr.; and a grandson, Joseph Spivey Hardy II.
Survivors include her husband, Lt. Col. Rennie C. Coleman Jr. (ret.); two daughters, Sharon Barton Hardy of Selma and Lynn Barton (Bob) Duffy of Birmingham; three grandsons, Robert Bradford (Dee Dee) Duffy and Kyle Barton Duffy, both of Birmingham, and Leonard Morris Barton III of Selma; one great-grandson, Peter Alexander Duffy; a saughter-in-law, Teresa Justice; and three stepchildren, Rennie C. (Janet) Coleman III, Reneé (Christian) Hansen and Susan (Emanuel) Santos.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, Jan. 2, at 2 p.m. at Heiberger Methodist Church Cemetery with Dr. Michael Brooks and the Rev. Dr. Luis Orteza officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service in the Heiberger Methodist Church fellowship hall. Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directed the services.
