DPD investigates cause of death after body discovered

The Demopolis Police Department is investigating a death after receiving a report of a discovered body.
Police responded to a wooded yard area on 155 Wild Honey Court where the body was found. The deceased was identified by family as 36-year-old Joseph Phillips Knowles Jr of Demopolis.
Members of the Demopolis Public Safety Department, including patrol division, criminal investigations division, fire and rescue, Marengo County Coroner John Scott, and Amstar Ambulance Service, responded to the area at approximately 2:11 p.m.
According to Demopolis Public Safety Director Tommie Reese, the body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Reese said the scene was processed by DPD Criminal Investigators to preserve evidence until the cause of death is determined. The case remains under investigation at this time.
