Linden Baptist Church celebrated a new flag pole and flag dedication ceremony after the morning worship service Sunday, March 25. Dr. Billy Harris led the congregation with an introduction and welcome. This was followed by a Prayer of Dedication and Thanksgiving
by veteran Billy Kirkham. Harris then recognized the 24 LBC veterans in attendance who encircled the new flagpole in recognition of their service. Harris gave a brief history of the U. S. Flag that was then raised by veterans Don Gillespie, Chalmus Barkley, John Clardy, and William Braswell. Rev. Johnny Arnett led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Ameri- can Flag. Pastor Harris then gave a brief history of the Christian Flag. The Christian Flag was then affixed and raised by veterans Charles Lambrecht, George Matthews, Lee Henderson, and Lewey Horn. The pledge of allegiance to the Christian Flag was then led by Rev. William Faircloth. A prayer of benediction was given by veteran Ken Barrineau. The new flagpole, flags, and lighting were a project begun by a group of concerned men of Linden Baptist Church who wanted to express their historical patriotism and Christian faith.
