Kiwanis Club of Demopolis participated in Kiwanis One Day on Oct. 28 by cleaning the Demopolis Kiwanis Club Playground at the City Landing park.
Members bought new swings, installed new equipment, performed general maintenance and pressure-washed the playground that the club donated in 2003. They also checked the equipment with Mike Baker from the Public Works Department to make sure it was still safe.
Michael Mullins, current Vice President of the club, said that Kiwanis One Day is set up by Kiwanis International “to encourage local groups to be a part of their community.”
“This was the perfect opportunity for us to do some much-needed maintenance on the playground,” he said.
Mullins said that Kiwanis Club focuses on kids of the community. He believes that the mission is evident through service projects like the playground.
“I think it’s just been a huge asset to Demopolis and to the kids of the community.”
