The Demopolis High School Cross Country team will be hosting a 1-mile Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 21, for younger students. Those who participate in the event, as well as other guests, are invited to stay for a DHS Cross Country meet that follows.
Registration for the Fun Run begins at 7:15 a.m. at the Sportsplex and is open to students in kindergarten through sixth grades. Cost is $5 per runner.
The cross country event marks the first time the DHS team has hosted a meet.
One feature of the Fun Run route will be 100-pound pumpkins decorated by members of the Cross Country team. The pumpkins were grown by Woody Collins and Barbara Blevins is assisting with transportation. Following the Fun Run and Cross Country meet on Saturday, the pumpkins will be on display in the public square prior to being used for the Cross Country team’s second annual Tombigbee Trail of Terror Fun Run and 5K at Foscue Park on Oct. 28.
To register for Saturday’s Fun Run, sign up forms are available at the high school.
