NWS issues flood watch for region

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Flood Watch for the south central Alabama area.
Flash flooding is possible across the area from Monday afternoon through Tuesday.
Counties under a flood watch include Marengo, Sumter, Greene, Hale, Perry, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Dallas, Autauga, Lowndes, Elmore, Montgomery, Macon, Bullock, Lee, Russell, Pike, and Barbour.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
