On Saturday, April 1, the female students of Theta Psi Step Group, led by advisors Hollis Bright and Anthony Kemp, performed community service trash pick-up within Demopolis.
Theta Psi is a group of young ladies whose mission is service, sisterhood and leadership. This group’s goal is giving back to the community in addition to dancing and stepping.
The focus of the latest clean-up efforts were concentrated in the areas of Wolf Circle, Patterson Alley, First Avenue, and Black Drive during the community service. Those were the areas the group felt needed the most attention with trash pick-up, according to those involved in the project.
Over the summer the group will be in additional neighborhoods throughout Demopolis doing community service and helping to keep Demopolis clean. The club will post about each clean-up day so the public can follow the progress. Others in the community are encouraged to join in the effort through the club’s “#fill up a bag,” “#clean dmop” movement.
Members thanked Mayor John Laney and Public Works for their support and encouragement.
