Blackwell to perform at Music Club

Dr. Manley Blackwell will present a piano recital at the Demopolis Music Study Club meeting today, Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 3:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.
The public is invited to attend.
The recital will include works by Franz Schu-bert, Claude Debussy, Felix Mendelssohn and Louis Moreau Gottschalk.
Blackwell is on the faculty at the University of West Alabama, where he teaches piano and courses in music history and theory.
He completed the bachelor and master of music degrees at Louisiana State Univer-sity and the doctor of musical arts degree at Michigan State University.
He has performed as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist in many part of the South and Midwest. He frequently performs with faculty members at the University of Alabama, and is often invited for special events when additional accompanists are needed.
He served as an official accompanist for the 1999, 2001 and 2003 American Horn competitions and the 2005 International Horn Society Summer Symposium.
He was an adjudicator for the World Piano Pedagogy Conference Competition in 2006.
Those interested in music are invited to attend any Demopolis Music Study Club meeting. The group meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. at the First presbyterian Church.
