Walter Varnell Weninegar, 72, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at his home.

Services were held Friday, June 7, 2002, at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Scheid officiating.

Burial was held in the Thomaston Cemetery.

He was born September 20, 1929 in Thomaston. He was a heavy machine operator for Marengo County.

Mr. Weninegar was preceded in death by Mary Erie Weninegar Manuel, John Weninegar, Joe Weninegar and William Weninegar.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Bagley Weninegar of Thomaston; a son, Walter Varnell Weninegar II of Thomaston; a daughter, Annetta Weninegar Martin of Thomaston; a brother, James Coleman Weninegar of Citronelle; a sister, Helen Weninegar Glaze of Mobile; three grandsons, Randy Martin, Michael Martin and Matthew Martin, all of Thomaston.

Pallbearers were Erwin Bagley, Darrell Martin, Jeff Carter, Jimmy Glaze, Joey Weninegar and Jed Weninegar.

Honorary pallbearers were Randy Martin, Michael Martin, Matthew Martin and Charles C. Handrop.
