Sweet Water softball picks up win over Millry

Eleven runs in the top the sixth inning provided the Lady Bulldogs with more than enough separation as Sweet Water High School defeated Millry High School 21-4 in six innings on the road on March 2.
After scoring five runs in both the first and second inning, SWHS (4-4) led 10-1 heading into the final frame after Millry scored a run in the bottom of the fourth to keep the game from ending early.
In the top of the sixth, Thea Luker hit an infield single to plate Lara Little.
After a strikeout, the two out rally began with a BreAnna Ramsey being hit-by-pitch which scored Natalie Luker.
Sara Irvin singled are a ground ball to left field to score Kora Myers and Elaina Mitchell and push the lead to 14-1.
After Kamae Retic reaches on a hit-by-pitch, Little hits a grands lam over rightfield and pushes the lead to 18-1.
Natalie Luker was walked and Kayla Marshall reached on an error which setup a three-run homer by Myers to cap the Sweet Water scoring burst.
Millry scored three runs on two hits, a walk and an error to close the game in the sixth.
It was a magnificent game for the Lady Bulldogs offense led by Little who went 3 for 3 with six RBIs including two home runs.
Irvin was 4-for-5 in the game with two RBIs, a stolen base and three runs scored.
Myers also finished with two homers along with five RBIs on 2 of 4 hitting.
Natalie Luker went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and four runs scored. Marshall tripled, stole a base and collected an RBI.
Thea Luker was 2-for-4 with two RBIs from the plate and struck out nine over six innings of work while giving up just three hits and one earned run in the complete game win in the circle.
On February 28, Sweet Water fell against Choctaw County High School 7-6 in Butler.
Choctaw led throughout scoring a run in the bottom of the first and then adding six in the third inning to provide the margin needed in the win.
Irvin finished 1-for-3 with an RBI. Retic went 1-for-4 with a homer. Myers finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Little went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Thea Luker was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Sweet Water is set to face Washington County in Chatom on March 7.
