The West Alabama Sav-A-Life Center of Demopolis is hosting “Sav-A-Life Day” March 5 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Demopolis High School.
One of the goals of the event is to bring awareness to the crisis-pregnancy center in Demopolis.
“We thought it would be a fun day for the community,” said Brooke Luker, dirtector of the West Alabama Save-A-Life Center. “It will also help drive home that the crisis-pregnancy center is available here at home for those who need it.”
During the event, there will be a 5K Run/Walk, dodgeball and flag football competitions, bingo, cow patty drop, T-shirts, horseshoes, corn hole, and more games and activities that are specifically aimed at younger kids.
Admission to the family-friendly event is $5 and will allow for participation in all activities. There will be food and concessions available that will require separate purchase outside of the price for general admission. Spots are still available for church praise teams to sign up to provide musical entertainment for those in attendance.
This is the first “Sav-A-Life Day” and the first big event under Luker as director of the center. Ultimately, as long as people come out and have fun then the event would be considered a success.,” she said.
“Hopefully people come out, have a good time and support the pregnancy center,” Luker said.
Sav-A-Life is a non-profit, evangelistic organization that is supported by donations from churches and individuals located at 1457 Cardinal Street. While being in the city and serving Demopolis primarily, the center has seen visitors from every adjacent county.
A crisis pregnancy center is a non-profit organization established to counsel pregnant women against having an abortion. They generally provide peer counseling related to abortion, pregnancy, and childbirth, and may also offer additional non-medical services such as financial assistance, child-rearing resources, and adoption referrals.
