The Demopolis School Board is seeking a new principal for the high school following a leave of absence requested by principal Tony Speegle and approved by the board.
The board approved a one-year leave of absence for Speegle during a meeting on Friday, June 12. Speegle’s contract with the system expires next year.
Speegle has been with the Demopolis schools for many years, serving as principal at US Jones prior to being named principal at the high school.
The school board began advertising for the principal’s position last week and Braswell said it is likely the candidate chosen to fill the position would be offered a three-year contract, which he said is the standard contract.
