The Demopolis Goody’s store made a donation of $900.60 to Harriet’s House on Wednesday as part of its “30 Days of Giving” campaign.
From Sept. 12 to Oct. 12, all customers at Goody’s in Demopolis were invited to make a donation to the local shelter for victims of domestic abuse.
“Funding is at critical levels right now, and the timing of this is great,” said Susanna Naisbett, the director of Harriet’s House. “Especially during this time of year, the people in the shelter need more, and we want to provide what we can within reason. This couldn’t have come at a better time.”
Demopolis Goody’s Store Manager Julie Pepper said the donations went over well in the spring campaign, so they decided to continue it for Harriet’s House in the fall.
Harriet’s House is a shelter for victims of domestic abuse. Emergency shelter services are available free of charge to women and their children who are victims of domestic violence, and non-residential services are available free of charge to all victims of domestic violence.
They have a 24-hour crisis line along with many other services for victims of domestic abuse. The shelter’s business line is (334) 289-8985. The emergency line is (334) 289-8988 or (800) 650-6522. Their website is http://www.westal.net/harrietshouse/.
