The Linden Patriots went on the road Friday night to take on Class 5A Dora and came away with a 33-28 win.
Linden head coach Andro Williams said he was pleased with the character his players showed in the game.
After leading 14-0 at halftime, the Patriots met some adversity in the third quarter. Dora came out of the locker room and scored 28 unanswered points to take a 28-14 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Patriots responded and came back to take the 33-28 win.
“I’m really proud of these guys for that,” Williams said. “Our guys responded and showed a lot of character. We came up here knowing we were outside our boundary with the depth they have as a 5A program. We came up here and played our style of physical football and got the win.”
Cordarius Scruggs led the way for Linden on the ground with 8 carries for 72 yards and a touchdown. Prentiss McCuiston had 15 carries for 89 yards. Dewayne Charleston was 4-of-10 passing for 85 yards and a touchdown.
