She was described by friends as someone who always had a smile on her face, someone who could cheer people up whenever she entered a room.

Ida Little, 52, and her 3-year-old granddaughter, who lived on Marengo County Road 44 in Linden, were found dead in their home Thursday morning, said Marengo County officials.

According to press reports, Little and her granddaughter were both found with injuries to the head, said Little’s sister, Shirley Williams, 46. Press reports stated that one of Little’s sisters discovered the bodies around 10 a.m.

Wanda Little, the daughter of Ida Little and the mother of the 3-year-old child, is stationed near Kuwait.

Public relations officer for the American Red Cross in Montgomery Denise Edmisten said that to contact someone who is stationed abroad, the Red Cross "must go though the proper channels of command."

Neighbor Alice Johnson described Little as a "really, really nice person."

Little, who worked as a sewing machine operator at the New Era Cap Company plant, was also remembered by fellow employees as a someone who always had a "cheerful personality," and someone who enjoyed the company of others.

Company plant manager Alvin Williams said that Little had a charming personality, "someone you always enjoyed being around."

The funeral for Ida Little and her granddaughter will be held by the Abernathy’s Funeral Home in Linden, said funeral home owner Reginal Abernathy. Abernathy said the date, the time and the location of the funeral would be announced later.
