Registrations, schedule pickups and open houses are set for the Demopolis City Schools.

For DHS students, registration and schedule pickup will be held Tuesday, Aug. 5. Sophomores will pick up their schedules between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m., juniors between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., seniors between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., and freshmen will pick theirs up between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.

At the middle school, seventh and eighth graders will pick up their schedules on Thursday, Aug. 7. Seventh graders are to pick theirs up between 9 and 11 a.m., while eighth graders should pick theirs up between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Sixth graders will pick up their schedules Friday, Aug. 8 between 9 and 11 a.m.

For third, fourth and fifth graders, U.S. Jones Elementary School will hold open house from 2-4 p.m. for all three grade levels on Wednesday, Aug. 6.

Westside Elementary will hold open house for kindergarten students Thursday, Aug. 7 from 12-1:30 p.m. Open house for first graders will be held that same day from 1:45-3:15 p.m. On Friday, Aug. 8, open house for second graders will be from 12-1:30 p.m.

The annual “Back-to-School” Sales Tax Holiday in Alabama will be held Friday, Aug. 1 through Sunday, Aug. 3. The tax-free holiday will give shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers and clothing free of state sales or use tax. Demopolis, Linden and Marengo County each participate in the holiday, so no local taxes will apply either.

The first day of school for Demopolis City Schools is Monday, Aug. 11.
