Fred Crawford Steen

Fred Crawford Steen, 90, of Demopolis, passed away Monday, July 21 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

He was born May 22, 1924, in Thomaston to the late Jasper Columbus and Ruth Crawford Steen. He was retired from Gulf States Paper.

He is survived by his wife, Adele Duke Steen; daughters, Carol Steen (Ronny) Landrum of Alabaster, Kathy Steen Culberson of Alexandria, Va., and Ellen Steen (Tracy) Cook of Satsuma; son, Fred A. (Sheree) Steen of Forkland; sister, Barbara Steen Bryant of Palmerdale; brother, Will “Bill” Steen of Greenville; grandchildren, Tom Smith, Chris Landrum, Freddie Steen Jr., Samantha Steen Becker, Tyler Cook, Jordan Culberson, Tucker Culberson and Jeremy Black; great-grandchildren, Noelle Smith, Dylan Smith, Annabelle Landrum, Sutton Becker and Jasper Steen; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23 at Demopolis First Baptist Church at noon with the Rev. Carl Williams officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery in Pineapple, Ala. Visitation was held Tuesday from 5-7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Tom Smith, Chris Landrum, Freddie Steen, Tyler Cook, Jeremy Black and Will J. Steen Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Hugh Lloyd Sunday School Class at Demopolis First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa or Demopolis First Baptist Church.
