Local athletes, coach attending AHSAA All-Star Week

Four football players and a coach from Marengo County will participate in the Alabama High School Athletic Association All-Star Sports Week next week in Montgomery.
Demopolis head football coach will be one of the coaches of the South team for Thursday night’s All-Star football game.
Recent DHS graduates Hollis Bright, Roderick Davis and Peyton Pearson will play in the game, and recent Sweet Water graduate Demarcus Gamble will also be on the field for the game.
The first day of practice for the week is Sunday, and the game will be played on Thursday, July 24 at 7 p.m. at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
There will also be all-star games for baseball, soccer, softball, basketball and volleyball during the week.
In addition to the all-star events, the week is also the AHSAA’s Summer Conference for coaches. The Summer Conference features professional development programs for coaches in 18 of the 24 sports offered by the AHSAA including basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, wrestling, track and field, volleyball and cheerleading.
The Summer Conference, expected to be attended by more than 5,000 coaches and administrators, opens Tuesday and runs through Friday, July 25, at the Renaissance Montgomery Convention Center.
