Moore claims BOE District 4 seat in runoff

The Marengo County Board of Education District 4 runoff was decided Tuesday, and Chester Moore defeated incumbent Arthur Hopson for the seat.
Moore received 975 votes, or 63.07 percent, and Hopson received 571 votes, or 36.93 percent.
“I can’t thank my supporters enough,” Moore said. “It’s been a battle and we worked hard. It’s truly wonderful. The voices of our district will be heard, and I am looking forward to my term and helping make this school system the best that it can possibly be.”
Hopson could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
