After last Friday’s disappointing 31-7 loss to the Cornerstone Christian Academy Chargers, the 4-5 West Alabama Preparatory School Titans football team is looking for Cornerstone to help them gain a berth in the state playoffs.

If Cornerstone beats Coosa Valley Friday, the Titans will be in the playoffs and will have to travel to play the Jackson Academy Eagles in the first round.

Although they were defeated earlier by Jackson, Tutt said the WAP team welcomes the rematch, if the fates allow.

The Titans were able to move the ball on Cornerstone but were not able to score. "We self destructed," Tutt said.

The effort has been there all season, he said. "These kids have played hard….We just need some good things to hppen early in a game."

In the meantime, "we want to play running football and do what we do best,’ said Titans head coach Webb Tutt.

WAP must stop the Notre Dame box offense utilized by their final opponent of the regular season, Sumter Academy.

Sumter has a little more speed than the Titans, but Tutt believes his team can move the ball. "I’m a bit worried about stopping them," he said.

Whether WAP makes the playoffs or not, Tutt believes the football program is on a firm footing.
