The 17th Judicial Drug Task Force led a drug and counterfeit item bust in Thomaston on Thursday morning.

Task Force Commander Clint Sumlin said his team has been working an undercover operation, and obtained search warrants to conduct the operation.

They seized crack cocaine, counterfeit purses and DVDs and marijuana in the bust, and three arrests were made. The arrests are as follows:

•Robbin Calhoun, 34, of Thomasville was arrested for second-degree possession of marijuana.

•Tanita Mair, 40, of Thomaston was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of counterfeit goods and theft of trademark.

•Gerald Barber, 36, of Thomaston was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Thomaston Mayor Jeff Laduron said he appreciates the hard work of Sumlin and the task force, and he thanked each of the agencies involved for their time and dedication with the case.

“They did a great job,” he said. “It was an ongoing investigation, and I appreciate their effort. We’re a small town, but we have problems, too. We’ll keep after them until we get it all cleaned up. We’re going to continue to work.”

Assisting in the operation were the 4th Circuit Drug Task Force, University of West Alabama Police Department, Demopolis Police Department, the ABC Drug Unit, the Marengo County Sheriff’s Department, Linden Police Department and the Thomaston Police Department.

“I want to thank all who were involved with this today,” Sumlin said.

The Drug Task Force was started in 2011 by District Attorney Greg Griggers to assist local law enforcement in combating drugs in Greene, Marengo and Sumter counties.
