Mary Macon Roberts

Mary Macon Roberts, 81, of Demopolis, died Monday, May 19 at Hospice of West Alabama.

She was born April 26, 1933, in Wetumpka to the late P.E. and Jeanette McNeill Macon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, P.E. and Jeanette McNeill Macon; husband, William L. “Bill” Roberts; and two sisters, Jean Nobles and Ida Pearl Pharr.

She is survived her daughters, Sabrina R. (Mark) Harrell of Demopolis and Rhonda (David) Bowen of Wetumpka; sons, Roger K. Roberts of Demopolis and Alan (Linda) Roberts of Wetumpka; sister, Edna Harwell of Wetumpka; grandchildren, John Ross Roberts of Demopolis, Matthew (Ashley) Bowen of Wetumpka, Kayleigh (Brandon) Gibbs of Tuscaloosa, and Kristy Bowen of Wetumpka; and great-grandchild, Aiden Pierce Gibbs of Tuscaloosa.

The family will receive friends at Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel on Tuesday, May 20 from 6-8 p.m.

Services will be held Wednesday, May 21 at 11 a.m. At Beulah Baptist Church in Wetumpka. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday morning from 10:30-11 a.m. Brother Wayne Guthrie will officiate with Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bill Harwell, John Harwell, David Bowen, Mark Harrell, Eric Jones and Robert Prince.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International or the charity of one’s choice.
