With the June 3 primary election less than a month away, voter registration deadlines are quickly approaching.

The last day to register to vote for the primary will be Friday, May 23.

For absentee voters, absentee ballot applications must be submitted by Thursday, May 29. Applications can be picked up at the circuit clerk’s office at the Marengo County Courthouse in Linden, or they can be downloaded from http://www.sos.state.al.us/elections/absenteevotinginfo.aspx.

Absentee ballots submitted in person must be turned in to the circuit clerk’s office by 12 p.m. on the day of the election, and ballots submitted by mail must also be in the circuit clerk’s office by noon Tuesday.

For members of the military, absentee ballots have to be postmarked by the day of the election, June 3, and received by the circuit clerk’s office with seven days following the election.

The list of polling places in Marengo County are as follows:

•District 1 – Demopolis Civic Center (501 N. Commissioner Ave., Demopolis) and Demopolis National Guard (1701 Highway 43 South, Demopolis)

•District 2 – Westside Elementary School (1724 Mauvilla Drive, Demopolis) and Demopolis High School (607 Highway 80 West, Demopolis)

•District 3 – Highway 43 VFW (27850 Highway 43, Gallion), Faunsdale Town Hall 35527 Alabama Highway 25, Faunsdale), Linden Armory (2400 East Coats Ave., Linden) and Rangeline Baptist Church (5805 County Road 19, Demopolis)

•District 4 – Thomaston Lunchroom (Main Street, Thomaston), Taylor Community Center (1618 County Road 65, Safford), Flatwoods Community Center 375 Flatwoods Drive, Catherine), Magnolia Community Center (County Road 30, Magnolia), Surginer VFD (6279 County Road 55, Magnolia) and Dixons Mills VFD (3846 County Road 6, Dixons Mills)

•District 5 – Jefferson Community Center (Alabama Highway 28, Jefferson), Linden/Highway 43 Voting Booth (108 North Main Street, Linden), Sweet Water Town Hall (31380 Highway 10, Sweet Water), Hoboken Voting Booth at Nicholsville Baptist Church (6437 Nicholsville Road, Sweet Water), Putnam (at the intersection of Highway 69 and County Road 4, Putnam), Nanafalia Community Center (County Road 9, Nanafalia), Aimwell Baptist Church (2770 County Road 17, Sweet Water) and Myrtlewood Community Center (210 Magnolia Street North, Myrtlewood)
