With two weeks left until Christmas On The River, one of Demopolis’ most prized possessions was taken away 8:00 a.m. Friday.

The elf that has become the symbol for this city’s most famous tourist attraction crashed to the ground in a rage of fury &045; and old age.

Well, no one but the beloved elf that watched over the city.

The elf, now simply a mass of busted lights and chicken wire, will surely be missed this year.

That doesn’t mean event organizers aren’t looking for possible reconstructive surgery.
