Roberta Bailey Newell, 97, of Demopolis, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Demopolis Memorial Gardens with Dr. Art Luckie officiating and under the direction of Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors.

She was a native of Demopolis and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a co-owner of Bailey-Newell Cigar and Tobacco Company for many years in Demopolis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Y. Newell.

Mrs. Newell is survived by a son, Edward Bailey (Cheryl) of Demopolis; two grandchildren, Michelle (Kenneth) Raines of Fairhope and Dawn Newell of Demopolis; two great-grandchildren, and Justin Raines and Emily Raines, both of Fairhope.
