The police officers of Linden received a sign that they are doing a good job during the Linden City Council meeting Monday night.
The council approved a request two weeks ago that asked for a three-percent raise for every city employee. There was a motion that was tabled until the Monday meeting that stated that every officer that is an hourly employee would receive an additional dollar raise on top of the three-percent raise.
Well, the motion was approved last night with the support of the Linden City Council, and the police officers of Linden are very pleased with the raises.
Another topic of discussion Monday was the removal of all
gaming machines in Linden and not reissuing licenses next year. "There is one business left in Linden that has these gaming machines," Laduron said, "and after January 1, 2004, these machines will be removed."
Council members also talked about scheduling a foot patrol route for downtown businesses that would be walked by the Linden Police during the Christmas season.
The council finished the meeting up with talks of changing policies during the holidays for city employees and the controlled burning of abandoned homes.
