LIVINGSTON – The Livingston Cougars Junior Varsity boy’s basketball team ran away from the Greensboro Junior Varsity boys 62-49 last night in a game that saw 25 team turnovers.

Leading the way for the Cougars was sophomore forward J. Yates with 28 points on the night. Yates could do no wrong as he hit shot after shot from all over the court including two three-pointers.

The Cougars jumped out to big lead in the first period and out scored the Raiders 16-10 but unnecessary turnovers plagued the Cougars in the second period allowing the Raiders to move to within four points of the lead at half.

The Cougars were on fire again in the third period and outscored the Raiders 19-10 in both the third and fourth periods to secure their win. For the Raiders it was I. White who lead the way with 19 points and also had two three pointers.

In other action the Livingston Lady Cougars were not so lucky last night as they fell 58-55 to the Lady Raiders in a close physical varsity girls game.

The Cougars lead throughout the first half but the Lady Raiders kept it close and by the half was trailing the Lady Cougars by one at 27-26.

The lady Cougars would be outscored in the third period 12-11 and then watch their lead disappear in the fourth period as they were outscored 20-17.

Leading the way for the Lady Raiders was No. 40 C. Reeves who had 14 points on the night and was a dominant force under the basket.

The game was as physical as they get and saw Lady Cougars No. 21 Kendra Harris leave the game early with a deep gash to the chin.

The Lady Cougars fell behind in the fourth by as much as nine points but managed to pull back to with three before the end.

The Lady Raiders improve to 3-2 overall and get their first region win.
