The Demopolis Board of Education approved two Family and Medical Leave Act requests during a called board meeting Tuesday morning.

Sherry McAlpine and Katie Poole were both approved for FMLA requests.

The board also approved out-of-state travel for Leslie Gibbs to serve as an AP exam reader in Louisville, Ky., on June 8-16.

“The College Board is paying for travel, lodging and everything,” Superintendent Al Griffin said. “This is of no cost to the board. It’s an honor for her to go, and we’re very proud.”
