The Two Rivers Arts Council is currently conducting a survey to help find out what kind of events people in Demopolis want to attend.

The short, 10-question survey asks about people’s interest levels for different things like concerts and art shows, how people hear about community happenings, and what days are best for those planning to attend events.

TRAC president Morgan Allen said the survey is to help the council decide the best way to spend the money they have.

“We’re trying to do more with less,” Allen said. “We want to find out what kind of events the community wants to attend so that we can better serve Demopolis as an arts council.”

The survey is available online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GJNPDVK, and paper copies are also available from Allen at Demopolis Public Library.

The council will also be holding a membership drive in the coming weeks to help boost membership.

“We have around 80 to 100 members, and we’re hoping to grow this year,” Allen added. “More members will allow us to do more events. We also want to draw in more audiences to the events that we have.”

TRAC membership postcards can be picked up at the library. The cost of membership is $30 for one season ticket, $60 for a couple. To become a donor, the minimum annual donation is $100, and there are six levels for donors, each receiving a certain number of season tickets.

“As a member, you get into our events for free, and they’re all right here in Demopolis, so it really is a good deal,” Allen said. “We have some unique events that you would have to pay for and travel to see otherwise.”

The TRAC board is still in the process of finalizing this year’s calendar, but there are a couple of events already scheduled.

On Tuesday, Feb. 18, the Springer Theatricals will perform “California Dreaming,” a musical journey through the late 1960s and early 70s. The show will be at 7 p.m. at the Old School on Main Avenue. Admission is free to TRAC members, $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Also coming to Demopolis is classical guitarist Jeff Bianchi on Saturday, July 12 at 7 p.m. at the Coplin Building downtown.

“We’re hoping to bring more events to Demopolis that will bring a wider audience to the shows,” Allen said.

Allen added that the council is excited to welcome two new board members, Frank Calloway and Bill Barley.
