The West Alabama Makos, a semi-pro football team in the National Developmental Football League, will return for their second season this year.
The team’s first meeting will be held Monday, Dec. 2 at Batter Up in Demopolis at 6:30 p.m. Anyone 18 and older is invited to come out for the team.
Head coach Taylor Bates said new players and returning players are welcome to come to the meeting.
“Anyone who wants to come out and play some ball this spring is welcome to come to the meeting,” Bates said. “This is the second year of the team, so the guys coming back know what we’re about.”
Bates said the team can be a second chance for some guys.
“This team had a positive impact on some guys last year, and it kept them from doing some things they shouldn’t have,” he said. “They didn’t want to let their teammates down.”
The season begins in February and lasts into May.
In their inaugural season, the Makos played for the conference championship.
