Swindle earns conference POTW with big game

West Alabama running back Javae Swindle has been named the Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Tigers victory over Central State on Saturday.
Swindle earned his second consecutive conference offensive player of the week award after leading UWA to a record-setting, 91-28 home victory over in-region Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Central State.
The 5-4, 162-pound sophomore ran for a career-high 280 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries, good for a 14.7 yards per carry average. His 280 yards rushing against the Marauders is the most in the GSC this season and also ranked third in the GSC’s single-game record list.
The Thorsby native’s longest run of the game was 88 yards, the sixth longest in the league history.
Swindle leads the GSC in rushing with 1,296 yards and 12 touchdowns on 145 carries.
