Column not representative

Dear Editor: As a Demopolis native and a former employee of The Demopolis Times, I subscribe to the paper to keep up with what is going on back home. I do not believe that the thoughts expressed in the Jan. 3, 2004 devotional on the Church Page are representative of the Demopolis regional community.
The anti-Semitic rants of Mr. Fee have no place in a column devoted to supporting the diverse religious community in the area. It hasn’t been too many years since the Jewish congregation was listed on this page. The institutions that the Jewish citizens helped build have continued to sustain the region.
With the number of congregations listed on this page, the beliefs and liturgies must vary widely and there is not always a common ground. But the devotionals on this page should be respectful of the beliefs of others while representing the congregation featured for the week.
When extremist political rhetoric denigrating the beliefs of others in published, background information on the author and those quoted in the opinion should be included. Please provide this information to your readers for Stan Fee and Jim Jackson.
